What an exciting time this is! New websites, stronger Internet presence and Tech Summits are all happening at once. Not surprisingly, these positive developments are accompanied some confusion. Let’s see if I can clarify.
Your current Help-U-Sell website is NOT hosted by Help-U-Sell. At this moment, the only site we host is helpusell.com. Your current office website is hosted by an outside vendor you contract with and pay separately. Many brokers have their current websites with Point2Agent, many with Fidelity/NewHomePage, and a few with other vendors.
Your new Help-U-Sell office website WILL be hosted by Help-U-Sell at no additional cost to you. These websites will be introduced at next week’s Tech Summit and throughout the next several weeks.
Recently, Fidelity – a vendor that hosted many Help-U-Sell websites – passed that hosting process off to their sub-contractor, NewHomePage.com. In order for Fidelity hosted Help-U-Sell websites to continue, a new agreement between the Help-U-Sell broker and NewHomePage.com must be completed. Many of you have been confused by email messages about this and have assumed that it has to do with the new Help-U-Sell websites we are introducing in March. It does not.
If your current website is hosted by Fidelity/NewHomPage, you must return their order form and any necessary IDX paperwork to them by this Sunday, February 28 or your current website will no longer be visible.
‘But!’ you say, ‘Help-U-Sell is rolling out these great free websites over the next several weeks . . . why not use this opportunity to let my old vendor-hosted site expire and just use the new Help-U-Sell hosted site?’ Two reasons:
1. Gap time. If you don’t continue your Fidelity/NewHomePage hosted website NOW, you will be without a website until your Help-U-Sell website goes live. That could be a week or it could be several. Any break in your web presence is bad.
2. Traction. It will take a few weeks or even months for your new Help-U-Sell hosted website to be found by search engines and to generate traffic on a par with what you’re receiving on your current vendor hosted website. We are recommending that you keep your current website up and running, regardless of outside vendor, for at least a few months to allow the new Help-U-Sell hosted sites to get ‘traction.’ Many of you will probably continue their outside vendor hosted websites into the future because they are getting traffic and producing leads. This is fine.
